Biography
I started studying music at the age of 7 in the Music Conservatoire A. Garcia Caturla, Habana, Cuba. I completed 2 out of 4 years for the Diploma in Piano Performance in the Conservatoire Amadeo Roldan in Cuba. After playing as a keyboard player of popular music I changed career, and after for 27 years of working as a Registered Nurse, in 2023 I took the equivalent ABRSM exams and decided to fulfill my dream and my passion. I also took theory exam, awarded with each of my exams with distinctions and currently I am preparing my LRSM in piano performance. Since then I have participated in recitals organised by my mentor, while being a piano accompanist for students in recitals and ABRSM exams. I am also taking the course to be Certified as Music Educator. I prepare myself every day to be better pianist and teacher. I know that it is never late and there is always space for improvement. The best reward we could get making music is the music itself.
Teaching Experience
Hi! I am a piano teacher with experience since 1994 in Cuba, applying Russian Piano method but in the last years in London, I have dedicated myself to a healthy piano teaching and playing, following Dorothy Taubman and Penelope Roskell approach to prevent, from the first lesson, injuries and consequently long-term complications due to poor technique. I also participate in masterclasses, in music education expositions and I take Continuing Professional Development courses through ABRSM Hub for professional growth. I have been tutoring/assessing students preparing for ABRSM. My lessons includes theory and music history.
