Class Description

In our KS1 classes, the academic journey continues with a deeper, more comprehensive focus on both Maths and English, building upon the strong foundations established in reception. The Maths curriculum now covers a broad range of topics including place value, computations, shapes, measurement, data representation, and fractions, with lessons designed to promote critical thinking and problem-solving. In parallel, the English program emphasises reading comprehension, creative writing, and factual writing, while also consistently addressing essential skills like handwriting, spelling, and grammar in every lesson. To ensure ongoing progress, students are tested at the end of each half-term, allowing teachers to identify any gaps in knowledge and give students valuable practice in a timed environment.

Homework assignments are provided after each class to reinforce daily learning, and parents receive regular verbal feedback along with opportunities to review the classroom work, ensuring a collaborative approach to each child’s educational development.
