LAMDA: Polka Group
Class Description
This class is for our youngest students (minimum 3 years) who are interested in acting and musical theatre. Each week, the lesson is split between playing games, building skills in acting and learning songs. In the acting portion of lessons, students may practice learning poems or building confidence in speaking in front of others on topics such as their favourite toy or their favourite book. There is a focus on storytelling with this age group and using the body and facial expressions to convey different emotions and to create different characters (eg. a witch or a dragon). In the musical theatre portion of the lessons, students work for a few weeks on learning a song. At this age, we start with songs such as "The wheels on the bus" or "incy wincy spider", adding actions and facial expressions to tell the story. The focus at this age is on fun and building confidence. The students have the opportunity to prepare for the LAMDA solo introductory acting exams and in other terms, to perform in our LAMDA showcase or at concerts.
