Biography

As a performer, I gained my GSMD Recital Certificate (post-Grade 8 certificate) in clarinet and piano and have primarily used these skills in 'learning and participation' projects for a variety of ensembles, festivals and concert venues. My composition work includes commissions for the BBC Singers and London Sinfonietta, and my chamber opera *The Commission* was performed at the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio in 2014. I was Composer in Residence at the Royal Opera House for the 2012-2013 season, during which time I created an electroacoustic surround sound installation for the Deloitte Ignite Festival. My compositions are primarily for acoustic instruments; I also use Logic Pro to make electronic music, including sound installations. In 2025, I completed my PhD in music composition at the RNCM and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Teaching Experience

My instrumental teaching includes several years providing group clarinet and keyboard lessons through the Every Child a Musician scheme in Newham primary schools and teaching clarinet to adult beginners at Morley College. I have taught composition, music theory and musicianship at Junior Academy, Junior Trinity, Junior RNCM, Trinity Laban and RNCM, as well as privately. I welcome all learners and strive to make my teaching practice accessible to all. For students who would like to explore composition and improvisation alongside studying for grade exams, I can offer a tailored programme of creative activities.
