Young Performers in Bromley
Individual skills in public speaking, acting and musical theatre for ages 5–7, taught in a small group. This is the class before children choose one or more specialisms. Young Performers is part of the performing arts membership.

Through The Year
What the class is working on, by half-term
Young Performers is taught across the school year. Each half-term has a clear focus, so students and families can see what the class is working towards.

Autumn 1
September – October
First examination. Each child works on their own speaking, acting and performance skills: a clear voice, how they stand and move, a poem learned by heart, and simple questions about everyday objects.

Autumn 2
October – December
First showcase. Children put those skills to use in a short performance, including a musical theatre song with actions and a little dialogue.

Spring 1
January – February
Exploratory work. Children try imaginative choices in acting, speaking and song, then begin shaping musical theatre pieces for the second examination.

Spring 2
February – April
Second examination. Each child practises their own examination work, in a familiar space, and learns to keep going if they need a prompt.

Summer 1
April – May
Second showcase. Children take a little more independence in performance, with some solo lines and chances to sing on their own.

Summer 2
May – July
Performance and exploratory work. The class performs part-way through the half-term, then returns to individual skills in public speaking, acting and musical theatre, before later choosing one or more specialisms.
Young Performers develops individual skills in public speaking, acting and musical theatre, before children choose one or more specialisms. There are two examinations in the year. The first is a solo introductory examination; the teacher chooses the level that fits the child. The second is LAMDA Musical Theatre at Entry Level or Grade 1, according to the child's year group.

An introduction to drama, song and shared performance for ages 3–5, in a small group and with a clear teaching purpose rather than unstructured play.
Acting & Musical Theatre
Ages 7–16
Acting, song and movement taught together in a small group, with attention to text, character and performance. From ages 7–16, students join Storytellers, Rising Stars or Headliners according to their age.
Public Speaking
Ages 7–16
A small-group programme for clear speech, structured argument and confident address. From ages 7–16, students join Storytellers, Rising Stars or Headliners according to their age.
Acting for Screen
Ages 7–16
Screen-focused acting in a small group, with Trinity examination preparation. From ages 7–16, students join Storytellers, Rising Stars or Headliners according to their age.
