Showcases are prepared in the weekly class

Performing arts students at Bromley Conservatoire prepare for showcases as part of the class, not as an extra arranged at the last minute. Dates are published as they are confirmed.

Craft, confidence and an audience

Small-group classes work towards performance through the year, including examination showcases where the class follows that route.

Part of the class

Showcase preparation sits inside the weekly lesson. Students learn to work with an audience as they learn the craft.

Two a year

Where a programme lists it, students prepare for two annual showcases, with theatre experience built into the year.

Two proper theatres

A showcase may be at Beardwood Theatre or the Mitre Theatre. Both are working theatres - lighting and sound, full seating, and backstage space - so the evening has the weight of a performance, not a classroom sharing. The house is confirmed with the date.

Colfe's School, Lee

Beardwood Theatre

A purpose-built 130-seat black box in the Beardwood Centre at Colfe's School. Steeply raked seating, a lighting grid and sound, and rooms behind the stage. It is used for school productions through the year, and it gives a class a real house to play to.

Trinity School, Croydon

Mitre Theatre

A raked theatre of about 120 seats at Trinity School in Shirley Park, with a control room, lighting and sound, a green room and dressing rooms. The foyer has a café. Students walk on as they would for a production, not a sharing at the end of class.
