Music is one-to-one with a specialist for the instrument. The student has a reserved weekly lesson slot, in line with our term dates, taken through monthly membership rather than as a one-off booking.

The music memberships are Preparatory (Young beginners, ages 4–6), Foundation (Learning for fun, up to around Grade 2), Academy (Around Grade 3 upwards, or advancing faster) and Scholar (Serious musicians). Each one has a different reserved lesson length and a different set of extras. We recommend the right membership when you enquire.

Membership includes the reserved weekly lesson, a report after every lesson, a place in the progression framework, and concerts as part of the year. Higher memberships add more examination support, theory and aural classes, and concert privileges. Examination entry fees, accompanist fees, concert tickets for performers and parents, and examination administration fees are billed separately from monthly membership, unless a membership includes them.

Membership is billed monthly over 11 months, with no charge in August. Each membership shows its own fee on the fees and memberships pages. That fee is the single source of truth until a place is offered in writing.

Yes. Instruments can be started with a paid trial lesson. The trial is a single lesson. After that, study continues as monthly membership. Ask when you enquire and we will confirm the trial fee for that instrument.

Yes. Many instruments are taught to both children and adults. Tell us about the student when you enquire and we will confirm.

We currently teach Piano, Singing, Musical Theatre Singing, Rock & Pop Singing, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Ukulele, Drums, Violin, Viola, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet and Recorder. Music theory is also available as a one-to-one lesson, taken through Foundation membership. If the instrument you want is not listed, enquire and we will tell you whether we can offer it.

Yes. Individual theory lessons are taken through Foundation membership - a reserved weekly slot with a specialist. Theory Week intensives for children aged 5–18 also run in the October half term, Easter and summer holidays. Academy and Scholar memberships include a weekly bookable theory class alongside the instrumental lesson.

Students prepare in the weekly lesson. ABRSM practical and theory exams can be sat here, as an authorised examination centre. Rockschool and other boards are prepared in the lesson and sat at the relevant centre. Examination entry, accompanist fees and some administration are billed separately unless the membership includes them.

Concerts sit inside the year, not as extras arranged at the last minute. Most memberships include two concerts a year. Academy and Scholar memberships include an exclusive concert twice a year, and those students perform without a concert ticket charge.

The weekly slot is reserved in line with our term dates. We move a reserved slot where the diary allows. Ask us as soon as you know you cannot come, and we will tell you what is possible.

Cover is arranged when a teacher is unavailable, so the reserved slot still happens wherever we can staff it.

Performing arts is taught in small groups, with a teacher for that discipline. Each student has a reserved weekly class slot, in line with our term dates, taken through monthly membership. This is not a drop-in or a one-off booking.

The weekly classes are Theatre Tots (Ages 3–5), Young Performers (Ages 5–7), Acting & Musical Theatre (Ages 7–16), Public Speaking (Ages 7–16) and Acting for Screen (Ages 7–16). Theatre Tots is the first class. Young Performers develops individual skills. From there students choose a specialism. We recommend the right class when you enquire.

Yes. The Musical Theatre Summer Course is a full show in a week — singing, dancing, acting and crafts — ending with a performance in a working theatre. It is booked separately from membership and does not hold a weekly class slot. It is open to students who already learn here and to those who want a first taste of musical theatre.

Young Performers, Acting & Musical Theatre and Public Speaking follow LAMDA. Students prepare in the weekly class and sit LAMDA exams in person here twice a year. Theatre Tots and Acting for Screen follow Trinity routes. Examination entry and administration are billed separately unless the class includes them.

Showcases sit inside the class year, in a proper theatre — Beardwood Theatre or the Mitre Theatre — with lighting, sound, seating and backstage. They are not a classroom sharing.
