One-to-one music theory at Bromley Conservatoire, taught by a specialist and taken through Foundation membership. Students on Academy or Scholar for an instrument here can also book a weekly theory class. Theory Week intensives, for children aged 5–18, run in the school holidays.
How Theory Is Taught
One-to-one theory is a reserved lesson of its own. Classes sit around an instrument membership. Theory Week is a holiday intensive for children aged 5–18.
Individual theory lessons are taken through Foundation membership - a reserved weekly slot with a specialist, in line with our term dates. This is the route for students who want theory as their lesson, rather than as an extra around an instrument.
Students on Academy or Scholar membership for an instrument at Bromley Conservatoire can book a free theory class once a week. The class sits alongside the instrumental lesson, so reading and written work stay ordinary, not a last-fortnight cram.
We run a Music Theory Week for children aged 5–18, to take them up a grade. It is held in the October half term, the Easter holiday and the summer holiday. Dates are published as they are confirmed.
Teachers

Membership
A reserved weekly theory lesson is taken through Foundation membership. Academy and Scholar are for instrumental study; theory classes on those memberships are booked alongside the instrument, not as a standalone theory lesson.
The reserved lesson slot is in line with our term dates.
