About

From Helen

Helen trained as a singer and pianist at the Royal College of Music in London, where she won several prizes and got the opportunity to work with many renowned singers and musicians. She went on to sing with Surrey Opera and Opera International, with whom she also took on the role of Musical Director. As an pianist, Helen has been accompanying other musicians for many years, in concerts and festivals, as well as for auditions and ABRSM/Trinity examinations. She gained her PGCE at the Institute of Education, UCL. She home educated her own children for nine years (all subjects up to and including GCSE) , as well as providing piano, singing, GCSE Music and theory lessons for children and adults on a one-to-one basis. She has worked as Head of Music at St. Ursula's Convent School for Girls and as Teacher of Music at the former Bexleyheath School. She now teaches piano, singing and theory at the Bromley Conservatoire and The Conservatoire in Blackheath, as well as continuing with teaching some students on a freelance basis. She continues to undertake regular work as an accompanist, both freelance and with Trinity Laban on their Musical Theatre course. Helen also trains and prepares students for LAMDA examinations, and is a teacher of voice production and public speaking skills. She holds an enhanced DBS certificate and has completed Level 1 Safeguarding Children and Young People.
