Sit exams at the conservatoire

An approved ABRSM conservatoire for practical grades and invigilated music theory - sat here, in a building students already know. Rockschool grades in drums, guitar and rock and pop singing are entered through us at nearby centres.

ABRSM

Practical exams and music theory, on site

Bromley Conservatoire is authorised to host ABRSM practical graded examinations and to invigilate ABRSM music theory. Exam day takes place here - the same rooms, the same building - so students sit in comfort rather than in an unfamiliar hall.

Practical grades
Hosted at the conservatoire. Students prepare in the weekly lesson and sit here when the work is secure, with teachers they already know nearby.
Invigilated theory
ABRSM music theory papers are taken in a familiar room, invigilated here, rather than at an external exam hall.

Authorised ABRSM conservatoire for practical graded examinations and invigilated music theory.

A certificate handed over in the weekly lesson.

How exams run

Three times a year

Practical exams run at the conservatoire three times a year. Students sit in a session once the work in the weekly lesson is secure.

Teachers say when a student is ready

The student's own teacher lets us know when they are ready to sit. We then enter them for the next session.

Certificates in the lesson

When the certificate arrives, it is handed over in the weekly lesson - a record of work already done, and a prompt for the next grade.

Rockschool

Rockschool, entered through us

We enter students for Rockschool graded exams in drums, guitar, and rock and pop singing. Preparation is part of the weekly lesson here. The exam itself is held at a nearby Rockschool centre, with entry arranged through the conservatoire so the pathway stays clear.

How Students Are Prepared

The lesson does the work. Extra classes sit around it.

Students work towards a grade in the weekly one-to-one lesson, and sit when that work is secure. Examination entry fees, accompanist fees, concert tickets for performers and parents, and examination administration fees are billed separately from monthly membership, unless a membership includes them.

In the weekly lesson

Pieces, scales and supporting tests are taught by the student's own specialist. The exam is a record of work already done, not a separate course bolted on at the end of term.

Aural classes

Academy and Scholar membership include a free bookable aural class once a week, so the listening tests inside a practical grade are ordinary work, not a last-fortnight cram.

Theory classes

Academy and Scholar membership also include a free bookable theory class once a week. ABRSM theory papers, where taken, can be invigilated here. One-to-one theory is a separate lesson, taken through Foundation.

Academy and Scholar

Mock exams

Academy and Scholar membership include mock exams. They are scheduled a short time before exam entries are taken, so the run-through sits close to the real sitting. A student can also take a mock with no exam booked, as practice. An examiner with extensive experience of graded exams will be examining.
